I defintely like that idea. And i think you found a great first line for a biography. I too might have been raised by turtles... or maybe tortoises. Thanks!

Well now, you're the first one to ask in all these years. Mostly, I would say it's whimsy. It's not #1 and I've never heard of #2, so no on both counts.

It's more like this. Some people are raised by wolves, of course, and we know what they're like. Me, I'm slow and deliberate and like to keep my head down and stay out of trouble. So one day I thought "I was raised by turtles". Simple as that.

And then I once upon a time, before it was so easy to start a blog, that I would build a site that would encourage children to write their autobiography, but write about who they wanted to be, without too much concern for the facts of their life. And my biography, of course, would begin "I was raised by turtles."

Nothing more than that.

I was hoping your bio would contain a clue or two about the source of the website name. It's not that I don't like your bio. I find it truly facinating. But the only connections I've found on the site(after - I admit - a somewhat cursory search)are 1)that you are an outdoorsman and turtles (for the most part)live outdoors, or 2) that you might have been participated in an art challenge (Google found it.) titled Children Raised by Animals and drawn the turtle.
