Thanks a lot for this information. I could not get my offline mail to sync for the last 2 days. But thanks to this information I traced it to a message with a large attachment that I had tried to send but which had failed to go. I had actually put this in drafts and then pasted it into a new mail and sent it using online mail. But after reading this I discovered I had forgotten to remove it from drafts. As soon as I did so my gmail started syncronizing!

Had the same problem. First tried clearing cache, etc as recommended but this did not work. What did work was on offline troubleshooting page, under displaying history, I clicked on view your outstanding history. This took me to a page where I was able to remove a piece of mail from my local store that was hanging in the system (my problems started when I first tried to send this message with some attachments that did not load… apparently deleting that mail from my drafts folder was not enough). Gmail resynchronized and now I’m back in business!

Thanks for another confirmation Leah. Obviously it doesn’t work for everyone, since it worked for me “anonymous”, didn’t work for Liam, and half-worked for you. Hopefully your additional tip might help the person!

Thanks so much for the tip- I was completely lost. I did what you said, and it worked, although I actually had to go into my trash and “delete” forever the un-synched messages (I didn’t need them for later). Thanks!

Bummer Liam. I’m glad you got it sorted, but yeah, Gears seems far from perfect, especially on high-latency connections (I’m often on satellite internet).

I tried what you suggested but it didn’t work, tried everything but in the end I had to delete my google gears folder and start everything from scratch.

Thanks for the confirmation. With only one data point, I couldn’t be entirely sure they were related and I couldn’t find anything at Google or elsewhere that addressed this.
